About: Set in the confines of a New York City tenement apartment, “The Housetaurant” is a dark comedy, which explores themes of restlessness, paranoia and jealousy within a modern long-term romantic relationship.

Synopsis: Charlie pulls a desperate prank on his girlfriend in order to provoke a change in his relationship. It backfires, sending the couple deep into territory neither is prepared for.

“The Housetaurant” premiered at the Rhode Island International Film Festival in August of 2008. Chosen as Best of Rhode Island, and has since played at the RIIFF Encore Series. It has screened at multiple festivals in New York City, the Athens International Film and Video Festival, Connecticut Film Festival, Woods Hole Film Festival, Bend Film Festival, Beloit International Film Festival and the Sexy International Film Festival in Melbourne, Paris and New York.  ”The Housetaurant” has also participated in the Palm Springs, Clermont-Ferrand  and Santiago de Compostela Short Film Markets.

Award Winning Filmmaker Dustin Schell’s films have been exhibited throughout the US, as well as in Europe, Central and South America, Southeast Asia and Australia. Schell’s short film, “Quintessence”, received First Prize at the Rhode Island International Film Festival, Best Short Drama at Q Cinema in Forth Worth, and the Jurors’ Prize at the DVAA Digital Exposition in Narrowsburg, NY. Mr. Schell produced the seven time festival winner and 2008 Iris Prize contender, “The Back Room”, directed by Greg Ivan Smith. Schell has also worked as Assistant Director, Script Supervisor and Art Director. He was educated in theater at University of Wisconsin and further trained at New York’s Circle in the Square Theatre School. Born in Dallas and raised in Wisconsin, Schell lives and works in New York City. His short film, “The Housetaurant” is currently on the festival circuit.
